Artist Statement

I am a New Hampshire artist from the Lake Sunapee area. My approach is mainly representational. I am most captivated by the impression of light and color in the landscape and that is what drives my inspiration to paint. I enjoy painting the timeless landscapes of area lakes, New Hampshire mountains, barns, farms and fields, and especially the “Iconic Scenes” around Lake Sunapee.

I have exhibited my paintings locally at the “Naturally New England” show in the harbor by the Center for the Arts in the summer and the Library Arts Center in Newport. I also presently have paintings at Tatewell Gallery in New London.

I studied fine arts in college and after a career in graphic arts I am now retired and spend much time at my easel painting landscapes, and using various media, but mainly oils and watercolors. I have studied with several local artists, including Grace Cooper and Ron Brown, among others. I am always on a quest to experiment and try new mediums for my landscapes.
